Shorty

With a nickname like Shorty, it’s not hard to work out the physical attributes of 34 year-old surf photographer, videographer and sometime writer Andrew Buckley. His frame is most akin to that of a hairy seal - although Shorty probably swims faster.
The talented surfer and skater from Cronulla in Sydney started shooting the heavy reefbreaks around his hometown in his early 20s, and with amazing ocean skills and an "arty" eye quickly started getting covers in the biggest surf magazines. However it was only five years ago, following the birth of his daughter and a three year stint as a TV editor, that Shorty returned full-time to his real passion, and the results have been phenomenal. He is currently on retainer with surfing magazines Tracks and Surfer, as well as uber-brand Rip Curl, and in the last two years has had more covers than Posh Spice. Last year was his 12th consecutive winter season in Hawaii and his surfing, photography and art are all improving with age to the point where he might just be the best surf photographer in the world right now.
Not a bad accolade for a human seal.
